Graham Brewster reports from the last three 3 team matches

Svanholm III-Malmøhus beskrevet af Graham Brewster

This 3rd Division East clash with Malmøhus WAS cricket at it´s absolute best. Great competition, friendly

atmosphere, 25 degrees and lots of “banter”.

Svanholm III won the toss and elected to bat under the excellent conditions in this 35 over encounter.

The two openers made an excellent start with Brewster (18) and Rocky Chawla (32) putting on an opening stand

of 68 before both fell in quick succession. The visitors gave many extras to take the score along.

Another partnership between Sonnich (27) and the hard hitting Zeshan (49) took the score to a good total.

We regretted afterwards in not telling Zeshan that he was nearing his 50. Caught out just before reaching the magic figure. A total of 188 for 6 wickets off the 35 overs. Svanholm batting: Brewster 18, R,Chawla 32,

Bilal 4, Sonnick 27, Samit (in his first game) 6, Zishan 49, Navesh not out 5 and Shabaz (C ) not out 16.

So with Malmøhus needing 5.4 runs an over to win the game, they went to the crease. They got off to a slow start with good spells from the opening bowlers. It always looked an uphill task for them, even with

a couple of players pitching in with some runs. Svanholm III also gave away a deal extras, but all in all, it was a good bowling and fielding performance from them. The visitors amassed to 165 for 7 off their 35 overs. Svanholm bowling: Zishan 2 for 16, Bilal 1 for 7, Hussain 3 for 29 and Navesh 1 for 27. A great privilege and enjoyment to play in this Svanholm side. A mention for Sumeet in his first game, a very tight spell of 0 for 19 off 7 overs.

Man of the match: With 49 and 2 for 16 in a tight spell..ZESHAN KHAN.

Svanholm 3rds only needed to win this match to clinch the 3rd Division East title and be champions.

Taastrup batted first on a fast outfield. They lost an early wicket with Bilal clean bowling Kihurrum with a

tremendous yorker. However, the next two of Abdul Rehman (33) and Bilal Shah (37) put on a good

partnership. With several dropped catches and 36 extras, it looked to become a high score for the visitors.

Tight bowling from Captain Shabaz and a fantastic spell with 6 wickets from Toke Larsen, things improved

in the last half of the innings for Svanholm. Taastrup reached 164 all out in this 25 over encounter.

Svanholm bowling: Bilal 1 for 28, Saif 2 for 32 and Toke Larsen 6 for 34.

Svanholm needed 6.6 runs an over in reply. They got off to an uneasy start by losing a quick wicket.

A partnership between Saif Ahmed (13) and Graham (20) took the score along, but pressure mounted to keep in

touch with the run rate. Hard hitting Bilal Khan was unfortunately caught on the boundary as

momentum needed to be increased. A good innings later by Saud Munir (23) and Jonas Henriksen (14 not out) gave hope,

but the matched slipped away and Svanholm ended on 131 all out off their 25 overs. It is now left to the

other matches and the statisticians to decide the final group. Svanholm batting: Saif 13, Shabaz 0,

Graham 20, Toke 3, Bilal 13, Hussein 10, Sonnich 3, Saud 23, Asad 3, Jonas 14 not out, Azaan 2.
